Włókno ceramiczne uzyskuje się przez rozdmuchiwanie roztopionej mieszanki kaolinu z tlenkiem glinu i cyrkonu gdzie poziom za- nieczyszczeń nie przekracza 1%. Temperatura topnienia tego włókna wynosi około 1800°C, średnica około 3,5 µm i jest przeznaczone jest do pracy ciągłej w temperaturach powyżej 1050°C, gdzie ponadto wymagane są: wytrzymałość, dobra izolacyjność i niski skurcz wtórny.
